The Island Pursuit Series is a fun set of Pursuit races hosted by RVYC. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
Trial By Fire
THE COURSE
The course is Start-Around Trial Island-Finish
Skippers can choose to round Trial in either direction.
THE START & FINISH
The Start/Finish Line will be the range that extends northward into Cadboro Bay and formed by the
red striped pole on the northwest end of the breakwater and the red striped pole on the piling
at the north end “C” Dock.

Report your finish time:
The crew of each boat must hand a completed finishing form, found in Appendix B, to the race
officer, A.J. Hesford, or his representative at the club’s patio no later than 1530. If form cannot
be submitted in person, a photograph of the completed form can be texted to 250-580-2356 or
emailed to AJHesford@GMail.com

Results received after 1530 will not be accepted.
The fun continues:
Prizes will be awarded to 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd . Special prizes may also be awarded for noteworthy aspects.
Prizes will be presented on lawn between the clubhouse and the patio at about 1730 or earlier if all
boats have finished.
Skippers, or their representatives, must be present to receive their prizes.

There will be no skippers’ meeting.
No signals will be made to competitors.
Marine VHF channel 09 is the working channel customarily used by the club’s racing fleet.

The event is governed by the rules defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
