These are some of the most fun races in the RVYC calendar.

They are all casual races. Anybody can enter and it syncs well with THSB.

Pursuits are a fun way of sailboat racing where the Slower boats start first, and the fast boats start later and must catch the fleet.
The staggered start means that the first boat that crosses the finish line after completing the course wins.

THE COURSE
5.1. Skippers can choose to round in either direction.
5.2. The course will be from the start, around Chatham and Discovery Islands, leaving the Fulford Reef Buoy
“VK”, Brinn Rock and Seabird Point to starboard if rounding in a clockwise direction and to port if
rounding in a counterclockwise direction, to the finish.
5.3. The course distance is 7.0 nm. This distance will be used to calculate the pursuit start times as
shown in Appendix "A".
6. NAVIGATIONAL RESTRICTIONS / AREAS THAT ARE OBSTRUCTIONS While racing, boats shall not sail:
6.1. Between Flower Island and Vancouver Island.
6.2. In the Oak Bay Marina and within 100 metres of its northern or southern entrances, which lie to the
west of Mary Todd Island; or
6.3. Between the north cardinal buoy “VJ”, North of the Harris Islet Group and Lee Rock buoy “V25”.
6.4. Between Enterprise Channel buoy “VE” and Gonzales Point (Victoria Golf Club course).

7. THE START
7.1. The starting line is the northwest range / transit formed by Tod Rock and Fiddle Reef Light. Boats start
in a northeast direction.
