Turkey Creek Sanctuary Ranger Led Outing
Details
Turkey Creek Sanctuary Ranger Led Outing. Please arrive early to sign in and bring bug spray, sun protection, and water. The 130 acre sanctuary on ancient Atlantic Ocean dunes is part of the Environmentally Endangered Land Program. We will learn about native plants like sand pines, scrub and turkey oaks, cactus, wire grass, scub paw paw, large flower rosemary, and more. The sanctuary is part of The Great Flordia BIrding and Wildlife trail and has many species of native Florida Wildlife, like manatiees, alligators, gopher tortoises , and bobcats. Many birds have migrated north, but we may see our year-round residents.
We will meet in front of Margaret Hames Nature Center.
