Stand By Our Lagoon
Details
Will the Indian River Lagoon Stay on the Path to Recovery?
Join us for an exciting evening with a guest speaker from the Brevard Indian River Lagoon Coalition! We will dive deep into the future of our local waters and discuss the upcoming November vote to renew the 1/2-cent sales tax.
Over the past decade, this fund has powered critical projects like muck dredging, septic-to-sewer upgrades, and oyster restoration. Now, we will look at how continuing this plan can protect our environment, boost our local economy, and ensure cleaner water for generations to come.
The Public is invited. Doors will open at 6:30 pm, allowing ample time for mingling before the meeting commences.
Our guest speaker will be MJ Waters. MJ is a 40-year resident of Brevard County and a lifelong advocate for a healthy environment. She served as Chair and Board Member of the Brevard Indian River Lagoon Coalition from 2016 – 2023.
From founding an environmental club in college to working on major conservation projects for the Disney Company, she continues to pursue her passion for effective, positive action even in retirement.
She is a Certified Public Relations Professional and former state president of the Florida Public Relations Association.
Come get the facts on how this small tax—costing the average family just about $40 a year—makes a massive splash for conservation.
Whether you want to see the latest data on returning seagrass or learn how you can help spread the word, this is your chance to get involved.
Bring your questions, meet fellow lagoon lovers, and find out how we can work together to Save Our Lagoon!
Free to attend — all are welcome!
We meet at the Unitarian Universalist Friendship Fellowship, located at 3115 Friendship Pl · Rockledge, FL.
Our presentation begins at 7pm on Thursday, September 24th!
