About us
This group is for all who have interest in or practice Tai Chi and Qigong. While the gong, or work, of cultivating qi, vital energy, is often a solo practice, we grow more when in community. All levels of mobility and experience are welcome.
The Meetup formats are virtual or hybrid (in-person and virtual) and are designed for you to learn new practices or deepen a practice you already enjoy.

Wild Presence: Beginning Tai Chi - In-person and Online Free Sample Class
Twin Cities Friends Meeting, 1725 Grand Ave, Saint Paul, MN, USWild Presence: Beginning Tai Chi - In-person and Online Free Sample Class
Monday, October 5, 6:30 p.m.Learn about our approach to Tai Chi and try a breathing exercise and a few Tai Chi movements that relax the body and encourage the flow of chi (vital energy). By the end of the hour, you will have a short, simple movement practice you can explore on your own. Tai Chi can also complement other breathing and movement practices you already enjoy.
Description
Tai Chi is an exploration of the flow of nature within our bodies. Like a walk in the woods with birds calling and flowers blooming, we attune to the sensations of the body’s inner landscape and the wild presence of chi. Although the sensation of chi is personal to each of us, it is often experienced as tingling, buzzing, or warmth. To cultivate fluid movement and chi, we release tension and allow the muscles and connective tissues to relax. We experience both the body’s receptivity to gravity through rooting (yin) and a sense of lightness and expansion through floating (yang). Together, yin and yang create fluid, connected movement. By initiating movement from the center with all parts of the body moving together, we can sense and respond to the unfolding moment with ease.
This is the first class of a 12-class week class series. Meetup members are welcome to try the first 3 classes of the series for free--come to one or all three (Oct. 5, Oct. 12 and Oct. 19). To continue with the series (classes 4 to 12), the cost for Meetup members is $150 in-person and online and $95 online only.

Beginning Tai Chi Webinar (Sept. 26, 2026)
Tai Chi DemonstrationMy background: For over 30 years, I have begun almost every morning with the slow, relaxed movements of Tai Chi, setting a tone of ease and spaciousness for the day. I was first introduced to Tai Chi, meditation, and yoga during a study abroad program in Asia in 1992. Soon afterward, I began studying Tai Chi with Robert Larsen, founder of the Birthing Life Tai Chi Center in Minneapolis and a student of Cheng Man-ch’ing.
I began teaching Tai Chi in 1997 and currently teach in-person and Zoom classes on Monday evenings at TCFM, along with other Zoom classes and video courses. I am also a Compassion Key Certified Practitioner. I enjoy spending time in nature, including wildlife tracking, wilderness camping, and cross-country skiing, which deepen my connection with many of the qualities I explore through Tai Chi. I live on a rural homestead in northwest Wisconsin with my wife and daughter.
