Community engagement and diverse perspectives are crucial to our industry’s progress. Speaking at tech events is a great way for you to learn and grow as an individual, while also contributing a fresh viewpoint to an ever-changing field.
Have you ever thought about speaking at a tech conference or event? Do you have something you’re excited to talk about but don’t know how to turn it into a presentation or how to submit it to a call for papers? Do you have an interest in speaking but don’t know how to choose a topic or where to start? What happens when it gets accepted? Then what?
Whether you’re new to the industry or an experienced senior, the community wants to hear from you! Starting your tech speaking career can be intimidating and tricky to navigate. In this talk, we’ll dive into the process of forming an idea, turning it into an abstract, proposal, and eventually a full presentation. We’ll talk about the talk itself, speaking tips, audience engagement, and clever energy & confidence boosters.

Speaker Bio:
Amy is a Minneapolis-based software developer with a traditional Computer Science background and a passion for technology and people. She’s currently the Lead UI Engineer at SportsEngine and spends most of her day writing client-side code on her Mac in collaboration with a crazy smart, dedicated team. As a 30 out of 30 on the Myers Briggs extroversion scale, she loves to get involved with local MeetUps, attend conferences, and lead the Minneapolis Girl Develop It Chapter.
