What we’re about
Inspired by the excellent Off the Record meetup in Bristol, we are bringing the ‘like a book group for albums’ concept to Cardiff!
Rather than having a book to read each month, we will pick two albums to listen to. One of these will be something released within the last year or so, and the other will be an older album. We will then meet for a very informal chat about them (and pretty much anything else music-related!)
As the year goes on, we will be compiling a playlist of everyone's favourite tracks from the albums. You can vote for your favourite tracks and also suggest albums for future meetups at: https://www.twodooralbumclub.wales

See all- Chuck Berry & Laura Jane GraceLittle Man Coffee, Cardiff
Have a listen to this month's albums and then join us at Little Man Coffee for a (very) informal discussion about them!
At the last meetup we selected a year at random between 1960 and 2004 to help select this month's older album - for May, the year is 1964. As always, our other album is a release from within the last year.
Chuck Berry: St. Louis to Liverpool (1964)
"Chuck Berry is perhaps the defining musician of the early rock & roll era, the one figure responsible for the music's sound, style, and sensibility that created the blueprint for the generations that followed. A guitarist who wanted to play like T-Bone Walker and croon like Nat King Cole, Berry married these two styles to a swinging beat that spliced jump blues with juke joint R&B and hillbilly boogie". (Spotify)Laura Jane Grace: Hole in My Head (2024)
"In a tidy 26 minutes, Hole in My Head weaves through the stripped-down style Grace explored on 2020’s Stay Alive and louder songs more akin to her work with Against Me!. None of these modes are new—you might hear echoes of the Ramones' brash vintage punk, PJ Harvey's spare 4-track demos, or Jeff Rosenstock's radically optimistic pop-punk—but Grace comfortably inhabits each."
