Our Welcome Message:
Welcome to UK AEGIS! We're a grassroots AI Ethics community. It's sincerely great to have you on board.
AI is one of the biggest issues of our time, and sadly its current direction looks questionable. Pirated works, psychological harms, centralisation of wealth... it's a long list. But that's where we (including you!) come in.
Many individuals are joining the AI Ethics cause, professionally by pivoting careers, or personally by voicing concerns and joining grassroots movements.
Alone we won't have much impact or support, but together we can build a collective movement and community with the power to ensure a safer and more positive AI future.
Whether you are a concerned citizen, a tech expert, a worried parent, a governance expert, an AI engineer, or anything in-between, your voice has value and if you want to pro-actively make the future of AI more ethical for all, you'll be at home here.
What comes next?
We're building a backlog of speakers, building our member base, and then things will kick off. Sessions will be regular but not overwhelming, likely every 5-6 weeks. We'll have speakers, debates, networking, and community-action initiatives.
What can you do for now?
Share this Meetup far and wide. You can copy-paste this text if you like.
Follow and network with AI Ethicists, especially on LinkedIn, SubStack and Bluesky. We're out there, come find us.
If you are keen to give a talk, contact me and I'll add you to the speaker backlog.
Got any advice?
Figure out your AI Ethics niche. Look at your experience, connections and interests and see what fits. Start small, build up, and stay connected.
Thanks once again for joining our group. We look forward to seeing you soon
