What we’re about
Andy Cross and Richard Conway from Elastacloud and Chris Parsons and Joe Hancock from Hancock & Parsons established the UK Azure Users Group in 2011. Together they have built a thriving community of Azure users and developers with the help of Microsoft UK. The user group currently stands at over 3000 members and meets every month in London.
Meetings are attended by up to 100 people a time and all those with an avid interest to learn Azure are encouraged to attend. The group regularly gives a platform for the Microsoft Azure engineering teams and distinguished community speakers.
As well as the monthly meetups, we are heavily involved in other community initiatives such as the now infamous Scott Gu events. The last event was held at Twickenham on 25th May 2017. It saw 800 fellow lovers of Azure join a selection of industry speakers, but most notable Scott Gu. We will be looking to arrange other such similar events. If you might be interested, please drop us an email to chris@hancockandparsons.co.uk and we will be sure to share with you future events.

See all- Speaking to AzureElastacloud Limited, London
Abstract: In this talk Richard Conway will review the Microsoft Speech SDKs and how they can be used in Azure AI services to analyse voice from recordings and from a microphone stream.
The talk will feature a bunch of demos which will show how you can:
- Capture voice through the Microphone
- How you can transcribe voice
- How you can recognise sentiment in someone's voice
- How you can recognise topics and things that people are discussing
- and ... How you can recognise individuals
Lots of great demos and discussions as to how to AI-enable your voice.
BIO: A Microsoft Regional Director, former Azure MVP and co-founder of the UK Azure Users Group. Current CEO of Elastacloud, a data and analytics consultancy using Azure as it's canvas. Richard continually reinvents himself with the fast pace of the cloud. An initial detractor of AI some 2-years ago, he's marvelled by some of the new foundation stones developers now have to build truly automated experiences. More about me here About MeNOTE: We are looking for new speakers to fill slots. We'd love to hear about a project you can discuss, an open source tool you've built or anything cool you want to show us. If you don't have enough to fill a session, don't worry we'll get someone to join you as a co-speaker!
