BETRAYAL TRAUMA PROCESSING SESSION # 7: Invalidation and Lack of Support

Bring paper and a pen and join us for our next Betrayal Trauma processing session. In this one hour session, we will discuss invalidation of personal experiences.

Expounding on the discussion of Disenfranchised grief, invalidation seems to come with the territory of emotional abuse. Many of us turned to others for support only to hear statements like "why don't you just leave" or 'she's the only mother you'll ever have'. Statements like these can make us feel like we were the problem and not in need of support or help. If you've ever been invalidating by a well meaning OR not so well meaning person, this is the workshop for you!

Today we will show how to reframe your trauma experiences in a way that helps you process, understand and grieve what happened in a healthy way.

"Trauma" is not a buzzword. It's important that those who have suffered a betrayal be able to confront what happened and process their resultant feelings about what happened. In the first half of the class, we'll provide an informative framework session for attendees to understand why remembering what happened and grieving it is so important.

Participants will then engage in live journaling through prompts for fifteen minutes before spending the last fifteen minutes of the group in active discussion about their processing session. Class will close with grounding breathwork.

These courses are designed to help the individual person process their trauma alongside their peers in a way that is inclusive and comfortable.
Sessions will cost $15 each and are on a drop in basis. You do not have to be an established member to attend these sessions.
