Monthly Cambridge social photography meet
Cambridge Central Library Conference Room, 7 Lion Yard, Grand Arcade, Cambridge CB2 3QD, GBSocial Photography – Monthly Meet (Cambridge)
Join a relaxed social gathering to photograph the streets, people, and details of Cambridge, while meeting new people with similar creative interests.
Welcome to Social Photography
My name is Daniel, and I started Social Photography while based in Cambridge.
Social Photography exists to help people socialise through photography in a friendly, inclusive way—no pressure, no egos, and no requirement to own expensive gear.
This monthly meet has been created as a simple way for people to come together, meet like-minded creatives, and explore photography as a shared experience.
All attendees will be invited to join a private WhatsApp group made up of friendly photographers of all levels, from complete beginners to professionals.
After attending the event, please contact me on Instagram @south.south7 and I will send you the invite link.
If you upload any images to Instagram, you are also welcome to collaborate with @UKSocialPhotography so your work can be shared on our main feed and seen by the wider community.

Meeting Point
Cambridge Central Library
Grand Arcade, CambridgePlease arrive with your camera visible so other attendees can easily recognise the group.
If you are the first to arrive, take a seat and place your camera on the table. Others will do the same as they arrive so everyone can find each other comfortably.
⸻
What shall we do on our walk?
Once the group is ready, you are free to explore Cambridge together at your own pace. There is no fixed route—part of the experience is discovering moments naturally as they happen.
As you walk, keep your camera ready and consider using a higher shutter speed.
Why?
A higher shutter speed helps ensure crisp images, especially when reacting quickly to moments on the street. This is a technique often used in wedding photography and works perfectly for spontaneous, “run and gun” shooting. There’s nothing more frustrating than capturing a great moment only to realise it’s blurred because the shutter speed was too slow.
⸻
Shooting in Manual?
If you shoot in manual, talk to others in the group and share settings and techniques.
If you don’t shoot in manual—don’t worry. This is the perfect environment to learn. Manual mode gives you far more control and understanding, and this meet-up is a safe place to practice without pressure.
⸻
“I only have a mobile phone”
That’s absolutely fine.
Mobile photography is growing rapidly, and if your phone has a camera, you are a photographer. There is no expectation to own a DSLR or mirrorless camera.
Don’t be intimidated by others with larger cameras or lenses. Everyone is here to learn, socialise, and improve. Your phone is more than capable of helping you develop your eye and your creative vision.
