Chord Extravaganza!

PLEASE NOTE:
Starting at 11:30am, the first half hour of today's session is dedicated to the new/beginner group. We will review some ukulele basics and play some easy songs.
Bring your questions, and let's play some ukulele.
The Ukulele Friends session will begin at 12:00 with some of the easier songs.

DON'T PANIC! This will be fun.

We often joke that you can play thousands of songs with three chords. That is true and easily proven by browsing through the UFO song library. We have a ton of three chord songs.

Sometimes we shy away from songs with more than three chords because we think they will be too difficult to play, or that we may not be up to the challenge.

Well today you will get to play some fun songs, most of which are well within your reach. We will play songs with one to twenty chords. Many of these will be songs that you already know, but you may not have realized how many chords they had.

The last one, Rubber Duckie, may be the exception, but we will give that one a go just for fun. Not too fast the first time through.

I hope the group finds these songs fun, and worth the effort.

Please note that there are a couple of places in the setlist where the group gets to pick which song we should play.

We will start with the list below.

• 1 Chord - Coconut (yes, it's one chord)
• 2 Chord - Achy Breaky Heart OR Iko Iko
• 3.1 Chords - This Old House (there is one chord that doesn't really count, so I call this three chords)
• 4 Chord - Down By The Water OR Pancho and Lefty
• 5 Chords - Do You Believe In Magic
• 6 Chords - Count On Me
• 7 Chords - BFD
• 8.5 Chords - Catch The Wind (again there is at least one chord in here that doesn't count)
• 9 Chords - Blue Hawaii
• 20 Chords - Rubber Duckie (I apologize for this one. It's a challenge)

We'll be playing inside and projecting the music on a wall for those who don't have the music downloaded onto tablets.

As usual, we will play the songs listed above for the first half of the meetup and then go around the room and play whatever people want to play.
