In tango, everything begins with the standing leg. Balance, stability, pivots, and connection all depend on how clearly we organize our weight and how we interact with the floor.

Tango music is rich with contrast. Some dancers hear only the rhythm. Others follow only the melody. The most interesting dancing happens when we learn to move between both.

In this workshop, Marcelo explores how dancers can interpret music through pauses, phrasing, and timing. You’ll learn how to recognize musical structure, when to move with the rhythm, when to follow the melody, and when the most powerful choice is simply to pause.

Through guided exercises and musical examples, Marcelo will help you transform musical listening into clear movement choices.

Why you need it
Many dancers feel stuck dancing at one speed or moving continuously without variation.

Learning to play with pauses and phrasing allows you to:
-create tension and release
-highlight musical accents
-dance with more expression and personality
-make your partner feel the music more clearly

Musical interpretation is what transforms movement into tango.
