Umbraco Hackathon - The day before DK Festival

Details
Due to feedback, we have decided to change the event to start at 14.00 and finish later, at 19.00.
In this hackathon, Umbraco HQ member, Sebastiaan Janssen, and Radley Yeldar Technical Director, Anthony Dang, will guide you through the fun and games involved in getting (your first?) contribution added to Umbraco CMS.
Whether you have never done this before or are a seasoned pro, you will have a challenging day of hacking ahead of you!
For beginners:
In this day of hacking you will learn how to get a copy of the Umbraco source code, find an issue that you can fix, implement the changes and finally leading to a pull request to the Umbraco CMS repository. Umbraco HQ will even try to get your change accepted on the same day where possible!
In preparation of the hackathon you can start with reading the contribution guide:
https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS/blob/v8/dev/.github/CONTRIBUTING.md
This is a pretty long document and don't worry if you don't grasp it all in the first go, we'll explain it again on the day and will help you along the way.
Go pro:
If you're an old hat and have done this contribution thing before then of course you're absolutely welcome to join as well. We challenge you to share your wisdom with the other people in the room while you're working on your own fixes.
We also have a list of missing documentation that you might be able to help write, anything can help move the docs forward, maybe you have a good code sample that hasn't been documented before, maybe you're ready to write whole articles. We'd love it!
Go further, make it a package:
Fixing bugs and implementing features in Umbraco are not the only ways to contribute. How about those features that you think are really missing from Umbraco? You could try to get them added but what if Umbraco HQ doesn't want them?
The answer is: almost anything is possible, why not try your hand at creating an Umbraco package for that one thing you just know your editors will LOVE.
Sebastiaan will take you through the steps for making your first package and making sure it is of high quality and is easy to use for community members trying to install it. This is a mini workshop that is offered to you for free in the beginning of the hackathon. Make sure to leave your name on this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfGzKExnpcuG4UXdvsttKr5TSfbNvKs4_r5zkOrKUVRAzr8DA/viewform so we know how many people will be attending this optional mini-workshop.
Practical stuff
The will be served food, soft drinks and snacks throughout the day.
If you can't attend the entire day, you are also welcome to jump in a couple of hours when it fits into your calendar during the day.
We're looking forward to seeing you all for a fun day full of Umbraco hacking.
