Umlilo Pride Sports

Umlilo Pride Sports is a South African LGBTQIA+ inclusive sports and social community created to bring people together through movement, competition, wellness, and connection.

“Umlilo” means fire—and that spirit is at the heart of what we’re building: a community where people can show up fully, play boldly, build friendships, and feel a genuine sense of belonging.

Our goal is to create welcoming recreational sports leagues, pickup games, tournaments, fitness activities, and social events for LGBTQIA+ people and allies of all backgrounds, identities, experience levels, and athletic abilities. You do not have to be a serious athlete to belong here. Whether you are competitive, trying a sport for the first time, looking to become more active, or simply hoping to meet new people, there is a place for you.

Umlilo Pride Sports is about more than what happens on the field. We want to strengthen community, support physical and mental wellbeing, develop leadership, celebrate diversity, and create spaces where LGBTQIA+ people can experience the joy of sport without having to hide who they are.

We believe sport can break down barriers, create lifelong friendships, and remind us that we are stronger when we play together.
