About us
What if building a stronger community started with a cup of coffee and the courage to understand each other?
Understanding Each Other: Coffee, Courage & Community is a monthly Sister Cities Project meetup created for neighbors, community builders, parents, entrepreneurs, educators, nonprofit leaders, local residents, and anyone who believes our communities get stronger when people are willing to listen, share honestly, and understand each other better.
This is an official Sister Cities Project event hosted by Shawn McClondon, founder of Sister Cities Project and author of [Book Title]. Shawn will guide each conversation, but the purpose of the gathering is rooted in SCP’s larger mission: creating spaces where people from different backgrounds, experiences, and communities can come together, build understanding, and move toward a more connected, compassionate, and courageous community.
Each month, we’ll gather over coffee for a relaxed, respectful conversation rooted in compassion, courage, authenticity, belonging, and community connection. These are not debates, lectures, political meetings, or networking events. They are opportunities for real people to sit together, hear different perspectives, reflect on meaningful topics, and practice the kind of understanding our communities need more of.
Topics may include what it means to be a good neighbor, how we build belonging, how we talk across differences, how we support local youth and small businesses, how we create stronger communities, and how we move from conversation to meaningful local action.
You do not need to be an expert. You do not need to have the perfect words. You just need to be willing to show up, listen, share with honesty, and be open to seeing people and community a little differently.
Come grab a coffee, pull up a chair, and be part of a Sister Cities Project conversation that helps bring people closer together.
