About us
### Unity Doesn’t Require Uniformity – Local Conversations
A community for people who believe connection is still possible — even when we disagree.
### What this group is about
This group brings together neighbors who want to have real, thoughtful, respectful conversations about the things that matter — community, purpose, empathy, leadership, belonging, and how we can strengthen our society from the ground up.
Our events are not political debates. They are guided conversations that encourage curiosity over judgment, listening over arguing, and shared humanity over division.
Every gathering is structured so members feel safe, heard, and welcome.
### What we actually do at our events
Each meetup includes one or more of the following:
- Conversation Circles on themes like empathy, civic unity, purpose, identity, resilience, or everyday leadership.
- Story-sharing exercises that help people learn from each other’s lived experiences.
- Short reflections from Neil Ghosh (author of Do More Good) or guest facilitators, followed by small-group discussion.
- Community-building activities that strengthen trust and connection.
- Optional monthly service ideas to practice “micro-altruism” in our neighborhoods.
Events are designed to be friendly, engaging, and accessible — seats for everyone, no lecturing, no pressure to speak if you’d rather listen.
### Who should join
This group is for you if you:
- Are curious about people who see the world differently
- Value respectful, open-hearted dialogue
- Want to make your community kinder and more connected
- Are tired of division and want a space without political shouting
- Believe we can disagree without dehumanizing each other
All ages, backgrounds, and viewpoints are welcome — as long as you treat others with dignity.
### Fees
There are no dues or membership fees. Most events are free. If a venue requires a rental fee or refreshments cost something, we will list it clearly in the event description.
### Affiliation
This group is hosted by Neil Ghosh, author of Do More Good: Inspiring Lessons from Extraordinary People, and is part of a broader effort to encourage empathy, civic unity, and bridge-building conversations in communities across America.
However, the group is not political, not religious, and not affiliated with any party or campaign.
### Our Guiding Belief
Unity doesn’t require uniformity — it requires curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to listen.
If that resonates with you, we’d love to have you join us.
