Reimagine Stress Walk & Talk

Details

In 2025, our theme is Bloom Where You Are Planted: Thriving in Your Current Circumstance! This means finding happiness and growth in your current situation, even if it's difficult. It's about making the best of where you are right now.

This year, we'll focus on embracing where you are in life and recognizing that the present moment holds the potential for growth and transformation.

We’ll explore how to:

  • Shift Your Mindset: View challenges as opportunities, knowing you have the resilience to thrive.
  • Activate Your Strengths: Realize that you have all the tools you need to succeed, right where you are.
  • Uncover Deeper Meaning: Discover lessons and meaning that aid growth, even in tough times.

The Topic for March is: Reimagine Stress

Have you ever noticed how two people can go through the exact same experience but react completely differently? One person stays more calm and focused, while the other feels completely overwhelmed.

Why does that happen?

How we interpret a situation plays a huge role. One person might see a challenge as an opportunity to grow, while another sees it as a threat.
How you think about stress matters. It can hold you back or help you move forward.

Don’t just take my word for it.

This is backed by research: In the TedTalk: How To Make Stress Your Friend, with Kelly McGonigal, health psychologist and lecturer at Stanford University, she said that:

People who believe stress is harmful tend to experience more negative effects from it. But those who see stress as energy—fueling them to meet a challenge—actually have better health outcomes, even in difficult circumstances.

While walking and talking, we’ll delve into these questions:

  1. How do you typically interpret stress—do you see it as harmful or helpful?
  2. What are ways you've been kind to yourself when you were feeling stressed?
  3. Daily Stress Hacks: What little things can you do every day to change how you react to stress?

Here’s the plan for our walk & talk:

  • Meet by the adult swings in Campbell Park (info on parking in Campbell)
  • Walk & Talk along the Los Gatos Creek Trail (about 2 miles)
  • Participate in Sharing Circles
  • Take a group photo

After the walk & talk, I'm walking to Orchard Valley Coffee in downtown Campbell - I'd love for you to join me!

Look forward to seeing you there!

Joyfully,
Shannon
