The trips would involve a mash-up of urban exploring and comfortable nature trails & hikes planned & designed by us to ensure that you have a great time & have a more holistic experience.
There is also a strong emphasis on sustainable travel and hence a strong preference to use trains & buses (where possible).

This trip takes you through the heart of the Balkans, offering a mix of stunning natural landscapes, local culture, and a taste of real Serbian life. Youâll hike through the open mountain slopes of Zlatibor to the peak Tornik, take a boat cruise through the winding Uvac Canyon, explore hidden caves like the icy chambers of Ledenica, and walk forest trails in Tara National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Along the way, youâll visit remote monasteries, scenic viewpoints, and mountain villages. The journey ends in Belgrade, where youâll uncover the cityâs layered history, explore its underground tunnels, and experience its lively nightlife and bohemian charm. This is the kind of trip that blends nature, culture, and community and leaves you with a whole new perspective on the Balkans.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?- Uvac Canyon: is one of the most striking natural landmarks in Serbia, famous for its dramatic, snake-like river bends and towering white limestone cliffs. On this day, weâll experience the canyon from every angle, starting with a scenic river cruise through the meanders. Then, with a local guide, weâll hike up to one of Serbiaâs most iconic viewpoints, where the canyon unfolds in a series of sweeping curves that seem almost unreal from above. Itâs also one of the last remaining habitats of the rare griffon vulture, and part of a protected Special Nature Reserve known for its unique geological formations and biodiversity.
- Tara National Park: often called the lungs of Serbia, is a beautiful and well-preserved natural area known for its dense forests, deep river canyons, and rich biodiversity. This protected park is recognized for its unique ecological and geological features and is included on UNESCOâs List for World Heritage Sites. Exploring Tara means immersing yourself in peaceful mountain landscapes, breathing fresh air, and discovering some of Serbiaâs most stunning natural scenery.
- Discover Zlatibor: one of Serbiaâs premier mountain destinations, renowned for its vast, pristine wilderness and diverse natural beauty. Dominated by Tornik Peak, the highest summit in the region at 1,496 meters, Zlatibor offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding Dinaric Alps and lush valleys below.
- Ledenica Cave: located in the Uvac Special Nature Reserve, is a captivating underground wonder featuring impressive stalactites, stalagmites, and seasonal ice formations. Accessible after a scenic boat cruise through the winding Uvac River, the cave offers a unique glimpse into Serbiaâs dramatic karst landscape. - EXIT Musical Festival (Optional Add-on & Based on ticket availability): Enhance your Balkans adventure with an optional add-on to the world-famous Exit Music Festival. WHAT IS THE PLAN ?
- Day 0 â Meet & Greet: Arrive to Belgrade, settle in the Belgrade accommodation and meet with the local guide for a relaxed evening in the city.
- Day 1 â Zlatibor & Hike to Tornik Peak: After breakfast, we travel to the scenic mountain town of Zlatibor. Our first hike leads us through rolling pastures, dense pine forests, and rugged terrain as we make our way to Tornik, Zlatiborâs highest peak at 1,496 meters. After soaking in panoramic views, we descend and check into our local accommodation for the night.
- Day 2 â Uvac Canyon: Cruise, Hike & Ice Cave: Today we explore one of Serbiaâs most iconic natural wonders â the Uvac Canyon. We begin with a peaceful boat cruise through the winding emerald waters before hiking up to the spectacular viewpoint overlooking the meanders. Along the way, we also visit Ledenica (Ice) Cave, an underground marvel accessible only by boat. This is a day filled with jaw-dropping scenery and hidden natural gems.
- Day 3 â Tara National Park & Return to Belgrade: We continue our journey through Serbia with a visit to Tara National Park, one of the countryâs most pristine and ecologically important regions. Weâll explore lush meadows, ancient forests, and visit RaÄa Monastery, a 13th-century cultural landmark. In the late afternoon, we begin our return journey to Belgrade, arriving in the evening. We will wrap up the day with an optional night out in Skadarlija, Belgradeâs bohemian quarter known for its soul, music, and buzzing atmosphere. For everyone who wants a taste of the Belgrade nightlife, we will head out to the famous river-nightclubs.
- Day 4 â Belgrade Tour: History & City Charm: Our final full day is reserved for discovering the vibrant capital. Weâll tour the Kalemegdan Fortress and learn about the cityâs layered history, explore the underground tunnels beneath Belgrade, and visit Sveti Sava, the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans. Weâll wrap up the day with a group dinner to end the trip.
- Day 5 â Goodbyes or Optional Avala Day Trip: We say our goodbyes in Belgrade. For those with extra time, thereâs the option to join a relaxed half-day excursion to Avala, a forested hill just outside the city offering panoramic views and home to Serbiaâs iconic monument to the Unknown Hero.

- Day 0 : - Arrive in Belgrade
- Day 1: 10 km â Travel to Zlatibor and hike to the peak - Tornik at 1496m height (elevation gain: 400m)
- Day 2: Uvac Canyon â cruise and hike to the Uvac viewpoint, visit to a cave (elevation gain: 250m)
- Day 3: Tara National Park with a visit to monastery RaÄa (elevation gain: 400m)
- Day 4: Tour of Belgrade, including Belgrade underground, Kalemegdan Fortress and largest Orthodox Church â Sveti Sava
- Day 5: Saying our Goodbyes in Belgrade (optional day-trip to Avala, the highest point near Belgrade, Serbia)
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate â hiking at relaxed pace on well-marked paths, moderate elevation, sure-footedness & good fitness required

- RakotzbrĂźcke (Devil's Gate): Built in 1866 out of basalt, is one of the worldâs oldest âDevil Bridgesâ, and is one of the most visited and photographed attractions and is also consistently listed as one of the top attractions to visit in Germany. The gate is located in the Kromlau Rhododendron Park, one of the biggest gardens in Saxony, pristinely kept with a large array of plants, fauna and wildlife.
- Forest Steam Railway (exclusive for participants to this event only): Ride on the historic Waldeisenbahn, a small historic diesel train that connects the towns in the Kromlau region. These steam locomotives have been running on the narrow-gauge railway again, and the unique landscape of the Muskau Arch can be experienced at a leisurely pace in the specially built passenger carriages.
- Kromlau Rhododendron Park: One of the biggest English gardens in Saxony, pristinely kept with a large array of plants, fauna and wildlife.
- Kromlau Castle: Beautiful castle located in Kromlau park, with the castle estimated at over 300 years.
- Trinitatiskirche (Gablenz): The Tower at the Heavy Mountain, Lookout point across the opencast mining of Tagebau Nochten, âHeaven and Hellâ grotto, mermaid pond, and various monuments are also on view.

Finishing location & time:- Option A: Berlin Central Station @ 8:30 PM on Friday.

Hiking distance: 11km from WeiĂwasser to RakotzbrĂźcke, Gablenz and back.
Difficulty: Easy to Intermediate â hiking at relaxed pace on well-marked paths, woodland grounds, sure-footedness & good fitness required.

WHY GO?
Letâs discover Germanyâs wild north! We hike along endless stretches of unspoilt white beaches framed by the baltic sea and ghostly forests. We encounter a lonely lighthouse or two. Together we wander through a UNESCO heritage forest sitting on top of dramatic chalk cliffs that plunge into the emerald waters of the Baltic Sea. The cherry on top of our nature adventure is our visit to one of the most Disney-like castles in Germany â Schloss Schwerin and our stay in the charming Hanseatic harbour town of Rostock.WHAT IS THE DETAILED PLAN?
Day 1: We catch a train to the picturesque castle of Schwerin. Schwerin castle sits on an island surrounded by lakes & forests, which all contributes to give it that stunning appearance. We meet our local guide outside the train station and then proceed getting enthralled by his stories about this magical castle town with the tour finishing right by the castle. Post the guided tour, we grab a bite / drink and admire the Castle gardens before heading to Rostock, where we would be staying in for the next 2 nights.
Day 2: Post breakfast, we are off to briefly explore the Hanseatic town of Rostock. We then take a train to the seaside town of Sassnitz to discover RĂźgen island and hike in UNESCO listed national park Jasmund along stunning white chalk cliffs that reach up to 100 meters while surrounded by beech forests. We hike almost the entire Jasmund National park, finishing back at Sassnitz and grabbing a bite / drink before heading back to Rostock.
Day 3: Post breakfast & checkout, we take a mix of train & bus to get to the beautiful seaside resort town of Nienhagen (hike starting point), where we would be hiking between Nienhagen beach & Warnemunde beach, one of Germanyâs most beautiful beaches. The Briesetal is one of Brandenburgs most scenic valleys, formed by river Briese. The quiet nature preservation area is home to mischievous beavers whose dams created a sunken birch forest. The valley is still dominated by unspoilt nature, seemingly untouched by humans. It's only a 40 minute train ride north of Berlin, making it the perfect day trip getaway from the city's hustling.
Following the meandering river we traverse the mystical forest, walk on wooden planks through moors and marshes and explore natural habitats and endemic wildlife. On this hike, immerse yourself into natureâs wonder! Have you ever observed the tiny details of the outdoors? Such as the intricate veins on the back of a leaf? Or the delicate edges of flowersâ petals? Or the movement of a cheeky squirrel?
On this walk, you will have the chance to truly connect with the natural world around you.
