This site is for people who enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking and other outdoor activities (skiing, kayaking, climbing, whitewater rafting, etc) with other people who enjoy the outdoors. Many of the events will be local hikes that will allow people new to the area and those who have lived her a short or long time to get together in the great outdoors and enjoy nature and new friendships. We are fortunate to live in an area that is comprised of The Upstate, Western North Carolina and The Northeast Georgia area. See you on the trail.

A maximum of 5 people per campsite, with a 2 tent maximum, although if there are 3 small tents, they probably won’t say anything; per the SP reservations agent. So feel free to pair up with others and get your reservations made!We will ride 4 days from the northern starting point at Wellsboro Junction - Butler Rd Access south along the Pine Creek trail to Jersey Shore; primitive camping 3 nites along the trail.
Wed 9/18 (Ride Day 1): We’ll need to shuttle vehicles to the end point, then return to Butler Rd Access to begin ride. We’ll stop at Tiadaghton. 16.5 miles. Primitive camping with port-a-potty, potable water, and picnic table.
Thurs 9/19 (Ride Day 2): Pack up bikes and ride to Black Walnut Bottom. 20.5 miles (mile marker 37). Primitive camping with port-a-potty. NO water here, but we will have passed a couple of places that we can ensure we re-fill before camp.
Fri 9/20 (Ride Day 3): Pack up bikes and ride to Bonnell Flats 17.5miles (mile marker 54.5) Primitive camping with port-a-potty, potable water, picnic table, and looks like a shelter of some kind of shelter.

Camp at State Park Sat 9/21.
Sun 9/22. Pack up vehicles and begin heading for home. The primitive sites that we will stay at along the trail are $30 per nite (for 2 sites to accommodate all of us) x 3 nites = $90 to be split between all campers. Patti will go ahead and reserve the primitive sites, then each of you can reimburse me during the trip.
Note: you still need to reserve the 2 nites at state park as mentioned above.Important Notes:
*There are mostly NO amenities along the trail, and few places to jump off to re-supply. Bring EVERYTHING on your bike that you will need (food, hygiene, water, etc).
*There are no reliable food or water sources along the trail, so bring and re-fill a few water bottles. I have identified areas that we can re-fill water at some point during each day, but know it is not readily available. You might consider bringing a small water filter.
*There are NO trash receptacles along the trail. This is a PACK it in, PACK it out trail. You might want to think about that when packing food. the less wrapping, the better. You will need to carry trash on your bike…less is more.
*A smell blocking sealable trash bag would be a good idea. It doesn’t sound like bears are a huge problem, but there are some, and we don’t need to encourage bad behavior.
*Meals: Plan to bring dehydrated meals. They will have a lower trash impact and will be easier to carry on your bike and easier to prepare at camp. Lunches should be easy “grab and eat” items that do not require heating up. Cook stoves will only be used for breakfast and dinner
*Bikes: Ensure your bike is operating well. Gears that move smoothly, brakes that actually stop your bike (front & back)…and don’t squeak, your chain isn’t saggy (it will surely jump off the chainring if it has stretched out), and your chain isn’t all gunked up with old grease. Your local bike shop can inspect, clean and tune up your bike to give you the best experience during the trip. Bring an extra tube and tire (you can buy fold up tires for easier transport).
*Bring your patience and a positive attitude. It really helps when we have to navigate unplanned hiccups. We are going to have fun!!!|

|To go on a Great Adventure you must have done at least one other weekend long camping or backpacking or cycling or kayaking event. If you don't complete this one simple requirement we will remove you from the rsvp's. This is a week long event and it just helps to know how all get along before hand.
