- We are the Upstate Pathfinders Volkssport Club, a not-for-profit club providing 11 interesting walks, available daily, at your pace, in many different locations throughout Greenville, SC. We provide turn-by-turn instructions with historical notes. Registration starts at 8:30. We are a part of the America's Walking Club (aka American Volkssport Association), a nonprofit organization that sanctions Volkssport events in the U.S. The America's Walking Club offers outdoor organized activities (walk, bike, swim) for everyone, regardless of age or physical condition. Seniors and minors (even in strollers), singles, couples, and families are all welcome. Leashed pets are allowed. You don’t have to be an athlete to be a Volkssporter!
- Our Conestee Preserve trail is NEW and shaded. The June 2 walk features a new 5K and the new 10k is on the East Bay and then crosses the Reedy River to follow the main trail to the Old Conestee Mill before returning to the finish. Pets allowed on a leash. Note non paved trails/boardwalks are narrow. The walk is sanctioned by America's Walking Club.
Supporting the Preserve: We will provide bags to pick up trash on the routes. We should be able to get most of it. The park asks for a $3 donation to the not-for-profit Preserve that you drop into the metal container before the Reedy bridge. This furthers their efforts to maintain the routes You may also visit the Merch Store as we head to the finish.
Start Point: 840 Mauldin Rd, Greenville. Start in the pavilion area - look for a green sign and banner.
Registration: Register between 8:30 and 9:00. Walk with a group or on your own with turn-by-turn instructions. Group walks start very shortly after 10:00. Cost is free for noncredit walkers and $4 for credit walkers. Your donations support the insurance and Meetup costs to the club and are also gladly accepted and appreciated. Please bring exact change and your small sticker address labels to speed up registration. Restroom is available at the start.
Walk safety: Because this is partly in the woods, group walks should stay together. Hiking sticks are not required but are useful on the non-paved trails. Even though this is October, please carry water.
Parking: Park near the pavilion. The lot is large.
