In the Redwood Regional Park, East Bay Regional Park District's. A hidden redwood forest lies off Redwood Road just a few miles over the ridge from downtown Oakland. A mainly shaded hike (80%). During the winter from mid-October through early February, we will see the massive gathering of hibernating ladybugs (Hippodamia convergens), clumping together along the fenceposts on the trail. Please photos only don't disturb their sleep. In addition to a great forest of coast redwoods, the park's 1,830 acres also contain other evergreens, chaparral, and grasslands. Wildlife within the park includes rare species such as the golden eagle and Alameda striped racer. Deer, raccoons, rabbits, and squirrels are often seen.

Information: Pit Toilet at Trailhead, fee for Leashed Dogs, bring snacks or lunch, we will stop around midpoint for a break. Water at least 2 liters.

Meeting Point / Trailhead: Richard C. Trudeau Conference Center Parking Lot, 11500 Skyline Blvd, Oakland, CA 94619

Hike Route: Starting point, We will start at the edge of the parking area, near the picnic table and open grass area. We will take the Dunn Trail, then we will go left on Graham Trail, Right on West Ridge Trail, then Left on Madrone Trail, Left on Starflower Trail, Right on Tres Sendas Trail (Group Photo on fallen Tree), then Right on Stream Trail, (Break at Picnic tables), continue on Stream Trail, Right steep uphill on Fern Trail, slight left on French Trail, then continue you uphill on Fern Trail, Right on West Ridge Trail, then Left on Baccharis Trail, then Right on Dunn Trail and return back to Redwood Dunn Trailhead.

Directions:
Turn left onto Skyline Boulevard at its intersection with Redwood as you come uphill from Highway 13. You will first reach the 11500 Skyline Boulevard staging area on the right.
