Filbert Steps & Chinatown New Year Festival Hike (Dogs Welcome)

Impactful urban hike with the intensity of Northbeach and Chinatown New Year Community Festival. We start at Levi Plaza and up Filbert Steps, which is a short vertical climb that can be done in 5-10min or less, depending on how hard you push yourself, but we will enjoy the walk up and views. It runs along the backyards of beautiful houses and gardens, and remember to listen for the parrots that reside there, then up to Coit Tower in Pioneer Park and its breathtaking 360 panoramic views of the city & bay. Then down Greenwich steps, enjoying North Beach neighborhood, Little Italy is a noisy bustling, then we will hit a few back alleys of the crowded Chinatown neighborhood, At the fair, experience Chinese cultural arts such as Chinese folk dancing, opera, drumming and much more at the entertainment stage on Pacific St. below Grant Ave. Make sure to get a family photo with the giant puppets, dragon and other memorable artifacts from the Parade.

Hike Route: Starting point, Levi Plaza in Front of the Large Block Waterfall (Group photo), Filbert & Sansome streets, We will up the Filbert Stairways, continue up the rear staircase to Pioneer Park and explore Coit Tower , then take Upper Greenwich street stairway down (located in front of Coit Tower) down Greenwich street, Left at Grant Street, Right on Filbert Street, (Saints Peter and Paul Church 1924) cross Washington Square, then continue on Union Street, Left Powell street, Right Vallejo street up to skyline park and city view, down stairs and Right on Powell street, Left Jackson Street; Fair is on Grant ave from California to Broadway, (very crowded) so at this point everyone will proceed on their own and if they want to meet at Broadway and Pacific at specific time or not that if fine...
Directions: From 280 north exit 3rd street, go straight, and proceed onto the Embarcadero. Stay on the Embarcadero past the Ferry Building take a Left on Broadway, then a Right on Samsone Street. Look for parking near Samsone and Filbert Streets. Bart and SF Muni are options!
