Urban Chic is a social group for diverse lesbians who are open to making meaningful connections with mature, sophisticated, open-minded, and stylish professional women from all backgrounds!!!!
The purpose of the group is to provide our members with various options to get out and explore new and exciting events in and around the Chicagoland area. It is our goal to satisfy the culturists, adventurers, party-goers, travelistas, and wall-flowers in our unique community.
Whether you are native to Chicagoland or a recent transplant, we hope you find this group to be the warm and welcoming network of lesbian women you've been searching for.
Requirements:
Photo: At least one photo in a member’s profile must be a recent and clear photograph displaying the member’s face. We aim to provide a safe space for women to connect, starting with visually knowing each other.
Attendance/No Shows: We want members of the group to connect, become active, and enjoy each other’s company. Meetup organizers put time and energy into researching, planning, and organizing events for group members. We do our best to ensure that the venues selected are clean and safe, attendees have a point of contact, and that the information provided is organized and timely. In exchange, it is expected that members respect those efforts made by their organizers and quickly update their RSVP if they can't attend an event. The website allows a member to change their RSVP up to 15 minutes prior to the event starting. If within that timeframe, the organizers request that a member unable to attend leave a comment on the event page.
Member Dues: Currently, Urban Chic does not require its members to pay dues. Other Meetup groups have found that requiring membership dues reduces the number of membership requests, encourages participation amongst current members, and minimizes the monetary burden on the organizer(s). As such, this may be something we considered in the future; however, it will be discussed amongst the members for feedback and implementation.
Member Suggested Events: Members should feel welcome to suggest an event or activity for the group to attend. To ensure the high standards of organization, all activities will require an assigned host before it is shared among the members. If a member wishes to serve as a host for an event, don't hesitate to get in touch with your organizer(s) to set up the activity.
We know there are MANY groups for queer women on meetup (we belong to several of them) so we are thrilled that you decided to join us! We are open to your feedback and comments so let us hear it!
