Mid-Park Lakes, Midsummer Evening Dahlias & Lit Dragon Picnic

Details

Let's do a midsummer evening walk in Golden Gate Park. There is a lot in bloom and it's nice to see it in the evening light. We will meet at The Pots Hot Pot Restaurant on Judah near 32nd at 6 and leave at 6:10 sharp.

We will start in the Sunset District and make our way into Golden Gate Park where we will see 2 or 3 of the lakes in the middle of the park, such as Metson Lake, Mallard Lake. Then over to the Dahlia Garden to see the dahlias as the sun starts to fade.

Then we will exit the park and go to the Safeway at 7th near Fulton for provisions for our Lit Dragon Picnic. Then we will head back into the park to see the Naga Dragon which lights up in the dark. We will look for a spot to have our picnic, hopefully in view of the lit dragon.

We will not end at start point. Bring a cup or prepare to purchase one.

Please note: Phone help is not available for latecomers. If you are late it is very hard to catch up with us. We walk at a medium pace. Escorts or sweeps are not provided, so slower walkers should be completely prepared to finish the hike on their own if they become separated from the group, and they may want to consider bringing a friend to walk with them. I reserve the right to make small changes to the route as needed.
