Toys for Tots: Firehouse to Firehouse Festive Urban Hike
Details
It's time for our annual Toys for Tots firehouse to firehouse urban hike. This will be a roving firehouse to firehouse urban hike in the Forest Hill and Sunset Districts to drop off our toy donations and maybe get to meet a fireperson or persons.
We will aim to visit 3 of the fire stations that won top[ honors in the firehouse decorating competition last year. See article the article from SFist here 2024 Winners Let's hope that they go all out on the decorating again! We might alter our plans a bit if the deoratin cometuon plans change for 2025.
We will also take in the holiday lights! Please wear some festive holiday attire or an ugly holiday sweater. We may even sing some Christmas carols!
This walk requires all participants to donate a toy to the SF Firefighters Toys for Tots program: https://www.sffirefighterstoys.org . All participants must bring an unwrapped toy for a child. Here is a list of toys they need: https://www.sffirefighterstoys.org/donation-suggestions.html
Donation of a toy or toys is the first choice. Second choice is for you to donate by bringing a check payable to San Francisco Firefighters' Toy Program.
Venmo, Zelle etc donations are not accepted for this event. Cash is a last resort and if you choose cash your donation will not be processed until after the event has taken place.
After the walk we will have a gathering outside at a commercial establishment in the Sunset District. We will not return to starting point.
We meet at 6, but leave at 6:10 (grace period) at the Mollie Stones on Portola Drive. I am still working on the exact route and there may be hills and stairs.
Please note: Phone help is not available for latecomers. If you are late it is very hard to catch up with us. We walk at a medium pace. Escorts or sweeps are not provided, so slower walkers should be completely prepared to finish the hike on their own if they become separated from the group, and they may want to consider bringing a friend to walk with them. I reserve the right to make changes to the route as needed.
Liability Disclaimer: The organizers of this meet-up are unpaid volunteers and not expert hiking guides. All participants agree to assume 100% responsibility for their own safety, conduct, and well-being and recognize that possible hazards exist while participating in outdoor (or any other) activities, and agree to participate solely at their own risk.
