What we're about

Are you single and looking for your special someone? Not meeting enough people? Maybe all your friends have moved on? New in town and don't know anyone? Maybe you're just looking for a new gang to hang out with? Come on out and kick it with us! This group is for all you city-loving cool cats, groovy people, hipsters, and hangers on. Whether you live here, work here, or are just passing through, everyone is welcome. We are casual, down to earth people looking to expand our social circles and enjoy Seattle. Our group includes teachers, students, temp workers, unemployed folks, researchers, artists, and more. While people anywhere are welcome, our events are concentrated in Seattle's urban core: Downtown, Belltown, Pioneer Square, the International District, First Hill, Capitol Hill, the University District, Fremont, Queen Anne, and South Lake Union. Stay tuned for potlucks, movies, plays, happy hours, brunches, game nights, and other fun events! Please see the "About" page for House Rules and resources/ideas for free and cheap things to do in Seattle (please let me know of any I've missed!).

2nd Thursday Jam Session

SoulFood CoffeeHouse and Fair Trade Emporium

Do you play an instrument or sing? Do you enjoy listening to Jazz, Blues and other good music? Well then join in on stage or just listen along at this casual all-ages gathering. ~Claudette Thanks to SoulFood Coffeehouse for offering the comfy, intimate venue along with fine coffee, refreshments and tasty treats. Designed for enjoyment, no pressure. Everyone's welcome - developing and veteran players alike. Good opportunity for torch-passing to younger players looking to expand their combo and improv skills. Music Ed folks, please pass the word. The style is pretty much jazz standards, American songbook and 12-bar blues forms, not much in the way of "free form". Players alternate, taking turns on stage, someone calls out a tune - typically familiar titles or RealBook pages. Sometimes there can be a singer or two in the mix. The skill range varies widely. Bass lines and hosting provided by John Roth of Seattle Area Jazz Musicians meetup. Mic available for singers. Quasi-set rhythm section to get things started, then share the love. There's an upright piano but no house drum kit. Everyone's welcome.
