Goldstrike Hot Spring & Secret Hot Sauna Cave Hike 🥾

Tucked deep within Lake Mead National Recreation Area, just beneath the towering Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, lies an epic canyon journey that rewards the bold with steaming desert hot springs and jaw-dropping Colorado River views.

This is not your average hike—it’s a rugged descent into wild terrain where every step feels earned.

🥾 The Journey
• Distance: ~5.3 miles round trip
• Elevation Change: ~1,200 feet (all of it waiting for you on the way back 😅)
• Difficulty: Very Strenuous – Grade 2 Canyoneering

The adventure begins with a manageable descent, but don’t get too comfortable. Around 1.5 miles in, the canyon tightens and the real challenge begins—giant boulder fields, steep scrambles, and fixed ropes that demand balance, focus, and upper-body strength. This is raw, unmaintained terrain where you’ll follow subtle painted arrows and rely on your instincts.

🔥 The Reward
At the canyon’s end, the desert reveals its secret: multiple natural hot spring pools, ranging from a warm soak to near-scalding (85–109°F), flowing directly into the Colorado River. Cool off in the river shallows, soak beneath canyon walls, and take in one of the most surreal landscapes in Southern Nevada. We will make a short walk through the ice cold river to reach a waterfall spring & the hot sona cave!

🌊 The Finale
Standing at river level, you’ll have a rare perspective of the massive bridge towering overhead. It’s peaceful, powerful, and humbling all at once. Just remember—the river currents can be strong, so awareness is key.

⚠️ The Climb Back
After relaxing, the canyon reminds you who’s in charge. The return is a relentless uphill grind—hot, steep, and demanding. This is where mental toughness matters just as much as physical strength.
