Sunday Scramble: Valley of Fire Seven Wonders
Details
If you have been waiting to explore Valley of Fire properly, THIS is the ONE adventure you need to join. We will be covering the most ICONIC spots of Valley of Fire via their Seven Wonders Loop (extended to cover White Domes).
This route is almost entirely hiking with simple class 2 scrambling, with little elevation gain across most of the 3.2 miles.
AllTrails Route Information Here
What are the seven wonders, you ask?
- Fire Wave: The famous, striped sandstone formation.
- Pink Canyon (Pastel Canyon): A slot canyon characterized by walls with hues of pink, lavender, and peach.
- Kaolin Slot Canyon: A narrow slot canyon featuring soft, white, and red kaolin clay.
- Crazy Hill: A vivid, multicolored mound situated near the trail.
- White Domes Area: While often a separate, nearby hike, this area, with its distinct white rock formations and narrow slot canyon, is frequently included in the broader
- Fire Cave: A small, highly aesthetic, and eroded, pastel-colored cave.
- Thunderstorm Arch: A small, easily accessible, and colorful arch.
Join us on this strenuous but REWARDING scenic scramble at Red Springs. This route is almost entirely class 2 and 3 scrambling as we scramble our way to the TOP of Calico 1 for STUNNING views of the Red Rock Valley and Vegas (for those that joined on the Guardian Angel Hike - This is the mountain we circled around).
WHAT TO EXPECT
A highly rewarding 3.2 mile hike with light class 2 scrambling. Enjoy a relaxed pace with frequent breaks to rest or take photos :)
WHERE TO MEET
Parking at the trailhead can be limited, and Valley of Fire is a state park with a $10 entrance fee per vehicle (for Nevada Residents), so carpooling is highly recommended.
As such, we will first meet at 9:30am at the VA Hospital on Pecos before heading out. It is about an hour drive from there to the trailhead. If you choose to carpool with someone, please bring $5 in cash to cover their fuel and entrance fee. The driver then will be responsible for the entrance fee. Even if you prefer not to carpool, I ask we all meet at VA Hospital first so we can head out as a group.
WHAT TO BRING
• Dress appropriately for the weather (it may start cold but you will warm up quickly)
• 2–3 liters of water
• Light snacks
• Proper hiking shoes
• Trekking Poles would work well here with the terrain
If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out.
Let’s go make some memories! 🏜️🔥
