Sunday Scramble: Kraft Mountain Peak Traverse
Details
Join us on one of the more strenuous scramble's to date! This highly rewarding trail is almost entirely class 2 scrambling with some class 3 and exposure. We will hike to the right base of Kraft Mountain, and begin an intense scramble up to the peak. We will then continue across the top of Kraft Mountain and exit around Hell's Hill (where the Kraft Loop is). You will have panoramic views of Calico, Turtlehead, and The Strip.
AllTrails Route Information Here
WHAT TO EXPECT
This hike is estimated at 3.6 miles with 1,270ft of elevation gain. This route begins at the Kraft Mountain Loop Parking lot within Calico Basin.
We will take a relaxed pace with frequent breaks to rest or take photos.
I estimate it will take around 3 hours to complete, finishing around noon and in time to join any other Urban Trails events happening.
WHERE TO MEET
We will meet directly at the Kraft Mountain Loop Trailhead, the gravel parking lot at the very end of Calico Basin. Parking can be crowded, so you may have to park on the roadside pull-offs nearby.
WHAT TO BRING
• Dress appropriately for the weather (it may start cold but you will warm up quickly)
• 2–3 liters of water
• Light snacks
• Proper hiking shoes - good rubber for scrambling on rock
If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out.
Let’s go make some memories! ️
