Join us on a more CASUAL hike this Sunday. While there are some spots with basic class 2 scrambling, this is MOSTLY a stunning secret hike passing abandoned mines, into a beautiful slot canyon, and ending at an open valley overlooking Muddy Mountain. Depending on the latest weather, there may be one 20 foot section of slot that has 1-2 feet of water to navigate.

This is a great Sunday hike to join if you enjoy unique landscapes and getting away from the city noise. It is one of my FAVORITE areas to explore, with amazing layers of colors throughout these mining mountains.

WHAT TO EXPECT
This hike is estimated at 3.6 miles with 486ft of elevation gain (relatively flat).

We will take a relaxed pace with frequent breaks to rest or take photos.

I estimate it will take around 3 hours to complete, finishing around noon and in time to join any other Urban Trails events happening by 1pm (with travel back to the city).

WHERE TO MEET
We will meet at 9am at the start of Callville Wash N. Rd (mile marker 16 on Northshore Rd). We will then drive down as a group to the trailhead (about 10 minutes), as GPS does not recognize this region for navigation.

Road conditions to the trailhead are suitable for most vehicle types, but carpooling will be coordinated at the meetup location for those with low riding vehicles.

This is around a 1 hour drive from Las Vegas, so please plan accordingly to arrive on time. Feel free to coordinate carpooling in the comments section.

There is a $25 fee (per vehicle) to enter Lake Mead National Recreation Area. There are kiosks at the entrances where you can pay this charge. If you have an America the Beautiful pass, that will cover this entrance fee.

WHAT TO BRING
• Dress appropriately for the weather (it may start cold but you will warm up quickly)
• 2–3 liters of water
• Light snacks
• Proper hiking shoes - good rubber for scrambling on rock

If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out.
Let’s go make some memories! ️
