Wilson's Homestead via the Arnight Trail - Advanced Beginner / Intermediate Hike
Details
This hike starts from the parking lot at the Red Rock Loop exit. This will be our longest hike of the Sundays at 10 Hiking Series, but most of the hike is relatively flat. There is one hill to hike down to get to Oak Creek and Wilson's Homestead that we will then have to hike back up, but it is a gradual incline. The views and landscape are worth the extra mile.
Wilson's Homestead via Arnight Trail: This is a scenic hike of about 5.5 miles. The trailhead starts at the end the Red Rock Loop and heads into the Rainbow Mountain wilderness toward Oak Creek.
Terrain & Scenery: This is a typical desert trail with the usual dirt and rocks. Parts of the trail are narrow and there is a lot of desert plant life. Sturdy shoes and long pants are recommended. The views along the way are amazing and at times you forget you are in a desert!. There are plenty of photo ops and great rocks for some fun poses. If we are lucky, there will still be water in Oak Creek.
Trail Type: In and Out
Parking: We will park in the lot at the end of the Red Rock Loop. There are 2 entrances into the lot - do not use the exit road - there are spikes.
Directions: If you put "Lower Red Rock Parking Lot" in your navi, you should find us.
This is a group hike and will be at a slower pace to accommodate the longer distance. We will keep the group together so that we can socialize, take plenty of pictures, and enjoy the scenery. We will hang out at Wilson's Homestead for a few minutes before heading back.
*Guests must be 21. No fur babies.
