Rubber Ducky Trail - Advanced Beginner / Intermediate Hike
Details
This hike is located in the Cottonwood Valley and is part of the Late Night Trail. The first half of the hike is a gradual decline. On the way back, the elevation gain is 334 feet spread over 2 miles. This is a good hike for advanced beginners, with the distance making it an intermediate hike.
Rubber Ducky Trail: This is a true hike through the open desert and is about 4.2 miles. The trailhead starts at the Late Night Trailhead parking lot. We will begin hiking parallel to Black Velvet Rd. We will cut over and drop down into Cactus Slalom where we will find the Rubber Ducky Tree in the wash. We will continue in the wash, eventually making our way out and around to start our gradual climb back.
Terrain & Scenery: This trail has the usual dirt and rocks.
Trail Type: Lollipop Loop
Parking: Parking is at the Late Night Trailhead parking lot. This is a paved parking lot with an extra dirt parking lot providing plenty of parking. There is a bathroom, but use at your own risk.
Directions: If you put "Late Night Trailhead" in your navi, you will find us. The parking lot is on the right, 5 miles west of the Chevron at Blue Diamond Rd. and Red Rock Canyon Rd. (Chevron, 12325 NV-160, Las Vegas, NV 89445). I will be waiting by my silver Honda Civic.
This is a group hike and will be at a social pace to accommodate slower hikers and hikers with broken wrists. We will keep the group together so that we can socialize, take plenty of pictures, and enjoy the scenery.
*Guests must be 21. No fur babies.
