A Cave, A (Hidden) Canyon, A Wash and An Abandoned Car too!) - Intermediate Hike
Details
This hike starts at the Buckskin Cliff Shadow Park at the base of Cheyenne Mountain. PLEASE NOTE THE 9:00 AM START TIME. We will start early due to warmer temps and a longer hike. This hike is approximately 4.7 miles with an elevation gain of 663'.
A Cave: We will hike around the base of Cheyenne Mountain and follow the trail on the left side of the wash. We will gain 448' elevation in the first 1.5 miles to the cave.
A Canyon: Leaving the cave we will stay on the trail for another mile until it ends in what some call a hidden canyon.
A Wash: Boulders! This is optional for those who want to play on the rocks. Alltrails shows a cave in this area but I couldn't find it. $5 if you find it and take a pic in it!
An Abandoned Car Too: As we start our return we climb another 200'. On our way down we will see this car and wonder how it got here. We will continue on our way back following a familiar trail.
Terrain & Scenery: This trail has a little bit of everything...regular dirt and rocks, some boulders in the wash, and crossing a man made bridge where part of the trail washed out. The views of the strip are beautiful.
Trail Type: Lollipop Loop
Parking: Parking is at the Buckskin Cliff Shadows Trailhead. There is a large parking lot. There are bathrooms.
Directions: If you put "Buckskin Cliff Shadows Trailhead" in your navi, you will find us. 3355 Cliff Shadows Parkway. I will be waiting by the bathrooms.
This is a group hike and will be at a pace that encourages socializing, taking pictures, and enjoying the beautiful landscape.
