The Impact of AI on Data Science Development

We are excited to welcome back Mars Lan and our alumni Rishi Mohan for an inspiring session.

In the fast-paced world of data science, the rise of artificial intelligence powered coding tools has created both excitement and skepticism. This talk will move beyond the noise to explore the real impact of artificial intelligence on the data science code development lifecycle. Speaker Biographies
Mars Lan is a technologist and entrepreneur focused on data infrastructure and artificial intelligence. He was the co-founder and chief technology officer of Metaphor Data, a startup that worked to solve complex organizational data challenges using metadata and artificial intelligence. Metaphor was recently acquired by KPMG.
Earlier in his career, Mars was the technical lead of LinkedIn’s metadata team and a software engineer at Google. He is also the co-creator of DataHub, a widely used open-source metadata platform originally developed at LinkedIn.
Mars earned a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Auckland.

Rishi Mohan is a senior software engineer at Cribl. He was previously a machine learning engineer at Metaphor Data, where he worked closely with Mars. Rishi is a graduate of the University of San Francisco Master of Science in Data Science program with a focus on data engineering, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
