Introduction of the speaker:
David Andrzejewski is a Director of Engineering at Sumo Logic, where he works on applying machine learning to software reliability and security. He also co-organizes the SF Bay Area Machine Learning meetup group. David holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Abstract:
Modern organizations must be able to detect and respond to cybersecurity threats. Raw log data captured from applications and infrastructure provides the low-level "sensory input" that is necessary, but often not sufficient, for the timely perception of and reaction to potentially malicious activity. In this talk, we will give several examples of how data mining algorithms and machine learning techniques can help distill the flood of log data down to a more valuable and manageable collection of insights amenable to human analysis and action.
