How to get a data science job: Strategies that actually work

Join us for the USF Data Science Speaker Series featuring Dr. Olga Boldarieva on Friday, February 23 at 12:30 pm.

Dr Olga Boldarieva is a data scientist at Outschool where she does everything related to data science and analytics from creating business metrics and building dashboards to running experiments and building ML models. Before Outschool, she worked as a data science mentor at Pathrise where she built a data science career track and helped hundreds of job seekers to advance their careers in data science. Overall, Olga has 14+ years of experience in Data Science and 12+ years of experience in Teaching and Mentoring. She has a background in Economics and Statistics and finished a PhD program in Economics at MSU.

In this talk, Dr Olga will talk about how to position yourself in the data science field while searching for a job and during interviews. She will discuss strategies that most candidates either use wrong or don’t use at all, such as networking, cold emailing, and mail merges. Finally, she will cover how to overcome challenges related to being an international student who requires visa support from the hiring company. 🚀
