The Utah Go User Group (#UTGO) is a community of people interested in software development and Google's Go programming language (Golang). Everyone is welcome. We currently meet in Lehi. To discuss and vote on topic ideas, go to https://github.com/forgeutah/utah-go

Speaker: Nash Foster
Description: Over the last two years, Nash has led a small team of software engineers in the implementation of a high-performance blockchain intended to compete against global-scale payment systems. His project (see: https://silvermint.net) is completely implemented in go, from the eventually-consistent algorithm for transaction consistency to transaction conflict detection to high-performance data storage solutions for blocks. Nash will speak on some of their experience squeezing the last ounce of performance from pure go in comparison to algorithms written in C++ and CUDA. And, will wrap-up on some thoughts about go in an entrepreneurial/startup environment.
