Sunday Morning Nature Walks: Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve
Details
🌾 Nature Walk at the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve 🌾
Join us for a relaxed and scenic nature walk at the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve, one of Northern Utah’s most peaceful and visually striking wetland areas.
We’ll be walking a ~1-mile loop, mostly on a boardwalk, which makes this an easy and accessible route through marshes and shoreline habitat. The elevated boardwalk offers great views of the wetlands and wildlife while keeping the walk comfortable and low-impact.
This is primarily a social, easygoing walk—a chance to get outside, enjoy fresh air, and spend time with friendly people at a relaxed pace. Some walks naturally turn into casual conversations about birds, plants, or the Great Salt Lake ecosystem, and if that happens, great. If not, that’s perfectly fine too. There’s no formal presentation or expectation to “learn”—just an opportunity to enjoy nature together.
The preserve sits along the Pacific Flyway and supports a wide variety of birds and wetland life throughout the year. Whether we’re pointing out wildlife, chatting with new friends, or simply enjoying the views and open sky, the experience is meant to be calm, unhurried, and welcoming.
What to expect:
- ~1 mile loop, mostly on a boardwalk
- Flat, easy terrain
- A relaxed pace with frequent stops
- A social, low-pressure atmosphere
What to bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Weather-appropriate layers (it can be breezy near the lake)
- Optional: binoculars or a camera
This walk is a great fit for anyone looking for an easy outdoor outing, meaningful conversation, and a peaceful setting—no hiking experience or nature knowledge required. Come as you are, walk at your own pace, and enjoy one of Northern Utah’s most beautiful natural spaces together. 🌿🦆
