This hike is a 6.5-mile loop on the north end of Antelope Island sandwiched between the State Park’s Visitor Center and the Frary Peak Trailhead. Our itinerary is to ascend from White Rock Bay and commence a sweeping counter-clockwise loop. In the beginning we will trek up from White Rock Bay and thence eastward to a view point on the island’s spine, where on a clear day, a wonderful panorama unfolds of the Wasatch Front from Bountiful to Brigham City. After regrouping and socializing at this rally point (bring snacks), we will turn north and hike to the events highest point before swinging west completing the loop back to the starting point. In the past this has been about a 3-hour trek plus shuttle time across the causeway. We’ll be on established trails the entire way. There are restrooms at the trailhead.

This island adventure features 815 feet of elevation gain (calculated low point to high point, not accumulative), most of which comes early on. It is common to see wildlife to include bison, and sometimes coyotes on this hike. Antelope Island is a more arid landscape than the Wasatch so don’t expect shade trees on this adventure. Dress for the weather.

Meet Elliott at the Antelope Island causeway parking lot located immediately before the entrance station on Antelope Drive at 10:00 am. Bring money (DOLLAR BILLS) as a vehicle fee is required to drive across the causeway to Antelope Island, and to help offset gas expense for those driving carpool vehicles. No dogs.

Meeting Directions: Exit I-15 in Layton on Antelope Drive and drive west. Go west approximately 7 miles to the Antelope Island State Park entrance station. We will rally in the paved parking area located before the entrance station on the left (south) side of the road. From this location we will arrange to carpool/caravan across the causeway to the trailhead.
