This hike is a 7-mile loop on the northern end of Antelope Island. Our itinerary is to begin from White Rock Bay and commence a sweeping counter-clockwise loop across a massive open valley ascending to a trail intersection. We’ll then trek northeast to a view point on the island’s spine, where on a clear day, a wonderful panorama unfolds of the Wasatch Front from Bountiful to Brigham City. After regrouping and socializing at this hike high point, we will turn north and then west and follow a trail high above the open valley we crossed earlier descending back to the starting point. We’ll be on established trails the entire way.

In the past this has been a 3.5 to 4-hour trek plus shuttle time across the causeway. This island adventure features 815 feet of elevation gain, calculated low point to high point, not accumulative. It is common to see wildlife to include bison, and sometimes coyotes on this hike. Dress for the weather. There are restrooms at the trailhead.

Meet Elliott at the Antelope Island causeway parking lot located immediately before the entrance station on Antelope Drive at 9:00 am. Bring money (DOLLAR BILLS) as a vehicle fee is required to drive across the causeway to Antelope Island, and to help offset gas expense for those driving carpool vehicles. No dogs.

Meeting Directions: Exit I-15 in Layton on Antelope Drive and drive west. Go west approximately 7 miles to the Antelope Island State Park entrance station. We will rally in the paved parking area located before the entrance station on the left (south) side of the road. From this location we will arrange to carpool/caravan across the causeway to the trailhead.
