Talk 2: Designing Chatbots for Victim-survivors of Online Sexual Harassment
Yuying (Sherry) Tan, PhD researcher at the University of Antwerp

Yuying (Sherry) is designing and evaluating proof-of-concept chatbots to support victim-survivors of online sexual harassment, working alongside legal experts, social scientists, psychologists, and computational linguists.
In her talk, she will share insights about creating interfaces for users in emotional distress, the ethical challenges of conducting research with trauma survivors, and how she overcomes them.

Sherry will reflect on how each discipline has unexpectedly shaped her design decisions and offer her practical experience of designing for sensitive contexts, as well as lessons learned from interdisciplinary research.
