Websites look great on most PCs, Macs and other traditional computing devices.  But, on smaller screens, different orientations, less capable web browsers, and performance restricted devices, that same website may not be as pleasant and usable.  Don't make the end user wait for the site to load more than they have to.  Why should anyone have to zoom in and out, just to view content or navigate to another section of the site?

Its all about user experience which includes legibility, performance, and ease of use, to name a few.

Responsive design is an evolutionary solution to a problem that has been plaguing web designers and developers ever since mobile phones and devices became prevalent to consumers in the late 90s. There has been every technique from server-side content reformatting to integrating a rendering engine that did the same thing in the mobile web browser.  These techniques worked a lot of the time, but not all the time.  The solutions were either slow or just did a bad job of re-formatting content, removing and positioning items the wrong way. Too many websites, to many developer/designers intentions to interpret right?

Enter the solution, responsive design technologies and principles. Today's devices come in many form factors with different screen sizes, resolutions and other configurations.  Smartphones, tablets and, in the immediate future, TVs will be used to browse websites more than desktops/laptops.  Responsive Design eliminates the requirement to have multiple WordPress themes or excessive code to support the ever changing "landscape" of mobile and stationary consumer electronic devices.

Come join us, network with others and learn something new that will help you move forward with your business, project or solution.  Come learn what WordPress can do for you and possibly, what you can do for yourself to make your dreams come true.

Thanks everyone for coming out on Saturday to our WordPress 3 for 1 event. It will be optimized in the future and 3 will literally have 3 events going on at the same time. Because of instructor scheduling conflicts, the developer hands-on portion was postponed and will be available as a separate event in May. WordPress 101 will be back as well as 201 in May. Join this group to get in on the fun http://www.meetup.com/dc-WordPress-Developers/. I spent all night working on how to make multiple video screens including iPhone to be integrated on the HD monitor so that themes, both responsive and desktop versions can look clear and the way they would appear on user's tablets and laptops. I have succeeded and will post images of the enhanced, optimized, and more responsive experience that you ill have at the next event. Thanks again. See you soon.
