3. Mentoring those new to the field
4. Give and get career advice
5. Share experiences
6. Explore use cases
7. Provide resources

The Transferable Skills Resume

Link visible for attendees

Presentation Description
Judy’s UX tenure provides a wide landscape of perspective on the transferrable skills workers already have as they work towards a transition into the User Experience (UX) career field. For this presentation, Judy shares experience and advice about when, how, and where you may express the value of your transferable skills so you get noticed. How does a teacher or a medical device salesperson identify and reframe skills? Let’s find out.

What we will talk about:

  • Reframing your skills for UX work.
  • When and how to write them in your resume.
  • How to get noticed.

Join us for a lively discussion and Q&A all about presentations.

About the speaker
Judy’s been focused on designing experiences embedded in services for almost 20 years. She’s been designing services through observing, listening, empathizing, understanding; bringing insights into the points of interaction and designing end-to-end touchpoints where they happen—in person, over the phone, online, on mobile.

Judy’s thirteen years of experience as Design Thinker / Design Director at USAA gave her the opportunity to lead design teams focused on digital and enterprise solutions across various business units such as Innovation, Insurance, Bank and Workplace Flexibility. As part of the Chief Design Office at USAA, her large team focused on bringing human-centered design to innovate solutions to exceed member and employee expectations. Judy’s energy on employee experiences ensured the Human-Centered Design discipline and rigor applied to internal employee solutions and interactions to support a more flexible, productive, and nimble work environment.

Judy is currently working at an international company, focused on bringing design focus and customer centricity to the organization.
