Book Club: Just Enough Research

Details

Who we are
This is a member-led group learning about or refreshing their skills in user experience.

We’ll read a few chapters each week prior to the meeting and then discuss what we found interesting. We may provide examples of how we relate it to our everyday lives.

It’s a casual discussion of what we’re learning and how we can apply it to our work. The density and complexity of the chapters will determine the amount that will be discussed.

About the book
Erika Hall distills her experience into a guidebook of trusted research methods you can implement right away, no matter what size team you're on or the budget you're working with. Learn how to discover your competitive advantages, spot your own blind spots and biases, understand and harness your findings, and why you should never, ever hold a focus group.

This book explores:

  • Frameworks for designing a thorough research process for your product.
  • Approaches to gain alignment around shared goals through stakeholder interviews.
  • How to conduct and build best practices for effective user interviews.
  • How to quickly run affordable tests to clarify big questions.
  • Essential methods for gathering and assessing quantitative data.
