What we're about

Welcome to UX Wales, based in Cardiff, for anyone who works in or with UX or is UX-curious!

By joining this meet up, or attending any of our events, you are agreeing to the UX Wales Code of Conduct (https://www.meetup.com/uxwales/pages/27902833/Code_of_Conduct/). You can guess at the kind of stuff that this says, but do read it, just in case. Thanks.

We appreciate Cardiff does not equal Wales; we're seeking to encourage more UX Wales chapters in other areas (Swansea, Aber, Wrex and so on), so if you'd like to start a local chapter of UX Wales in your area, we'd love to hear from you.

UX Wales 10

Bipsync UK Ltd

We'd love to see you guys at the first UX Wales of 2019. This meetup will be in Cardiff and sponsored by our long-time supporters and lovely folk at Bipsync, just above the Vue Cinema/right by Cardiff Central station. After our last pretty massive event, we're back down to a gut-busting 40 attendee event, so tickets will go fast! We've got some brill talks for you, together with pizza and beer, and tickets are free, as usual. TALKS 'Task models' - Jesmond Allen Task models are a simple, yet incredibly powerful, design tool. They help us to record user needs in a way that the whole team can work with, all the way from discovery to deployment and beyond. In the UX community, task models have been somewhat eclipsed by experience maps and service blueprints of late. I’m all for a juicy mapping exercise when I’m helping an organisation make strategic decisions. But what if the job at hand is the result of all that strategising: designing a website or an Alexa skill, say? About Jesmond - Jesmond is a skilled design team leader and UX expert, who has worked in digital design since 1995. She is a freelance user experience consultant, helping clients shape their digital strategy and build design teams. 'Prioritising user goals' - Damien Hatton Research and design are core components of UX. But how do you translate the research into effective design? I’ll introduce some practical ways of turning your research into prioritised user goals for various project types and demonstrate how this can inform better UX design. About Damien - Damien has enjoyed 15 years experience in UX leading projects and teams across the UK and Australia. He founded and ran an international startup for 5 years and is currently working on his fourth gov.uk digital service design project. 'Tbd' - Tbd (First Time Speaker Slot) Any questions, hit us up on Twitter at @jevkid or @martynkelly, or on the main account at @uxwales. Thanks M + M
