How does one cope with the uncertainty and instability of our daily problems and world events? Responding with anger, attachment and fear offers no real protection. Buddhist teachings encourage us to rely upon peaceful experiences and states of mind. Learning to meditate helps us to gain experience of them. This series will introduce Buddhism and explain how meditation can offer authentic inner protection. Classes build as a series; each one stands alone, and drop-ins are welcome.

Living with Purpose: The Power of Meditation
In this inspiring series, we will learn how to deepen our meditation practice by exploring the powerful and transformative contemplations of the Lamrim, or the stages of the path to enlightenment. More than just a technique to quiet the mind, Lamrim meditation introduces us to a structured and profound way of thinking that brings lasting inner peace and clarity.Step by step, we will be guided through essential Buddhist topics such as the preciousness of this life, the reality of impermanence, the law of karma, and the truth of suffering — not as abstract ideas, but as living meditations that can change the way we view ourself, others, and the world. Through learning how to contemplate these teachings and integrate them into our daily lives, we develop a steady, wise, and joyful mind.
Perfect for both new and experienced meditators, this series will help you move beyond basic breathing techniques into a rich and meaningful meditation practice rooted in the wisdom and compassion of Kadampa Buddhism.
