Sunday Morning Meditation
Kadampa Meditation Center DC, 1200 Canal St SW, Washington, DC, USWeekly Sunday Meditation Classes with Sanema Naomi Hardrick
- Each class begins with guided breathing meditation, to help settle the mind, let go of distractions and cultivate inner peace. The meditation is followed by a brief, traditional Buddhist prayer, called Liberating Prayer.
- The Teacher will then give a practical teaching based on the topic of the class series and explain how we can integrate Buddha’s timeless wisdom into our busy daily lives.
- The teaching is then followed by a guided meditation to help us mix our mind with the teaching and take it to heart.
- Time permitting, at the end of the meditation class we spend a few minutes in group discussion and the teacher will take any questions that the class might have about the topic.

Mala Making Workshop
Kadampa Meditation Center DC, 1200 Canal St SW, Washington, DC, USJoin us for an introduction to mala making and learn how to use a Buddhist mala in conjunction with mantra recitation to improve your peace of mind, compassion and wisdom. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon exploring this traditional art by making your own mala to take home with you, or add your creation to our collection for sale in the gift shop.
A mala is a string of beads used to count prayers or mantra recitations. This is a simple practice that easily connects us with the good qualities of all enlightened beings, and helps us to realize our highest potential. For Buddhist practitioners, their mala is a very precious and meaningful object.
This workshop is suitable for everyone, whether you are an experienced practitioner or a complete beginner. Work at your own pace and receive guidance from experienced assistants while enhancing your knowledge of the various types of malas and how to make them in a qualified manner according to the New Kadampa lineage.
After everyone has completed making their malas, in the final session, you will receive a mantra to recite and learn how to use and bless your mala.- Registration: Please pre-register so we can ensure there are enough materials for everyone, space is limited! Cost: $15. This does not include the cost of the mala. There will be a variety of beads for you to choose from which are sold separately if you intend to keep your mala.
