Finding Strength Through Adversity & Community Dinner
with Joyce Conley
Illness can be one of the most challenging experiences we face. It can bring fear, uncertainty, and physical discomfort, often leaving us feeling vulnerable and out of control. Yet, from the perspective of Kadampa Buddhism, even sickness can become a powerful opportunity for inner growth, healing, and transformation.
In this special Friday night talk, learn how to work with sickness in a constructive way—reducing mental suffering, developing patience and courage, and finding meaning even in difficult circumstances.
We will explore how to:
- Transform pain and adversity into a path of inner strength
- Let go of fear and cultivate a peaceful, accepting mind
- Use challenges to deepen compassion for others
- Discover a sense of purpose and resilience, even during illness
Whether you are currently facing health challenges, supporting someone who is, or simply wish to prepare your mind for life’s inevitable difficulties, this talk will offer practical tools and a deeply hopeful perspective.
Everyone is welcome. No previous experience with meditation or Buddhism is needed. Stay after the talk for a community dinner and an opportunity for connection and discussion.
