Meet Ely Tegart! She has an answer to that very question. Ely studies, breathes, makes, and popularizes art. She is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist, (former) teacher, and professional over-explainer of simple things. Along this funtastic journey through El Carme we'll encounter massive murals, hidden paste-ups, graffiti culture, local artists, and the stories behind the walls people usually walk past without noticing.

This walkshop is FREE. The host may pass the hat at the end, but the point is to enjoy Valencia, its street art and each other

This walkshop is limited to 20-ish persons for logistical reasons but will be offered regularly so fear not, just plan better 😉

PURPLE IN BENIMACLET
We'll wander through one of the most charismatic areas of Valencia characterized by its lively student-of-life vibe given its proximity to the multi-campus area of the city. We'll find out how to pray to the patron saint of the barrio. We might listen to Prince or quote Alice Walker. We might reminisce about bruises. We'll find out a purple heart emoji have to do with Revolutionary War. Etc. Etc. Etc.

This event is donation-based. Suggested donation for MeetUps in Valencia average 10 euros. Hats will be passed, hearts will be warmed — your donations help us keep these walks sustainable! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend regardless of donation-ability.

ABOUT HOSTS
MEG ROUJE is a solo traveler, mom of a fluffy potato cat, IACC-certified color consultant, and photographer with synesthesia — she experiences names, music, and Tuesdays as colors. Which explains her lifelong obsession with it. Over the past 15+ years, she has written a thesis on color perception and the anomalous mind, taught color strategy to businesses and creative teams, and convinced brands that absolutely everything comes down to the shade of blue they choose. Her writing has appeared in Fast Company, and she is the creator of the Colors of Valencia project, which explores what makes this city so magnetic.

ALEXEY TIMBUL is a storyteller who has taught at Academy of Art University (San Francisco) and International Fashion Academy (Paris). Since 2023 he's been on the jury of CLEC Fashion Festival in the City of Arts and Sciences, a host of Book Lovers Unplugged literary open mic at the only English language bookstore in Valencia, and the producer of @StandUpComedyValencia shows. Most importantly, Alexey is a fulltime Gemini with ADHD

We had a blast introducing this game show to Valencia (check out the reel!) and we are thrilled to welcome it back! As folks say on the show, it’s not who you know, it’s who who you know knows!

Micah Hart is a seasoned host and the mastermind behind this runaway success @whoknowsoneshow changing the way folks think of networking around the world.

This is a donation-based event to keep our programming sustainable.

For this extra-ordinary walkshop, we are working with IVAM and Tour Me Out.

1. We'll start with a visit to the Albufera exhibition at IVAM to see how artists have engaged with it in different mediums and eras.
2. A charter bus will be waiting outside to take us directly to Albufera so we can experience it for ourselves together.
3. We will hike/chill in the Devesa pines and dunes for about an hour in the liminal space between the lagoon and the sea.
4. A boat will be waiting at the pier to take onto the waters for a sunset ride past the bird sanctuaries, the fisheries, and Time itself.
5. We will return to Valencia with each guest receiving a custom Albufera collage handmade by Alexey Timbul.
   Even if you've been there and done that, it is worth returning for this unique immersive perspective.

SCHEDULE
16:00 / 4:00 PM - Exhibition at IVAM
You may join the group at any point during this hour.
17:00 / 5:00 PM - Transfer to Albufera directly from IVAM
18:00 / 6:00 PM - Hike/chill in Devesa
19:00 / 7:00 PM - Sunset boat ride
20:00 / 8:00 PM - Transfer back to Valencia

COST: 40 euros
Includes 1) museum entry, 2) to-and-from bus transfers, 3) boat ride ticket, 4) custom collage and some historical standup along the way.
This is a "Ryanair" type of price: just the basics to the get job done. We wanted everyone to be able to experience Albufera in such a beautiful way.
